How to Plan Your Studio's Year Ahead

Annual planning guide for fitness studios. Q1–Q4 calendar, campaigns, staffing, and financial targets.

By Koryn Barrett— Founder & Marketing Director, Kollabo

Studios that plan their year in advance outperform those that wing it. Here is the quarterly framework.

Q1 (Jan–Mar): Growth

New Year challenge. Peak acquisition. Hire seasonal instructors. Run your biggest marketing push. Target: 20% new member growth.

Q2 (Apr–Jun): Retention

Autumn/spring challenge. Member appreciation events. Focus on reducing churn before the slow season. Collect reviews from happy members.

Q3 (Jul–Sep): Optimise

Winter (Southern) or summer (Northern). Adjust schedule based on data. Test new class formats. Run corporate wellness outreach. Focus on revenue per member.

Q4 (Oct–Dec): Prepare and harvest

Plan next year's challenges. Black Friday promotion. Holiday gift card push. Hire and train for the January surge. Review annual P&L and set next year's targets.

Monthly rhythm

First of each month: review last month's numbers. Adjust schedule. Plan this month's marketing. 15 minutes that change your trajectory.
