How to Launch an On-Demand Video Library for Your Studio

Guide to creating and monetising on-demand workout content. Equipment, filming, hosting, and pricing.

By Koryn Barrett— Founder & Marketing Director, Kollabo

On-demand video adds a revenue stream that works while you sleep. Members who travel, have sick kids, or cannot make class still stay engaged — and paying.

What you need

  • Camera: iPhone or mirrorless. You do not need a production crew.
  • Audio: wireless lapel mic ($30–$80). Audio quality matters more than video quality.
  • Lighting: ring light or natural light. Avoid overhead gym fluorescents.
  • Hosting: Vimeo OTT, or host directly through your platform if supported.

Content strategy

  • Start with 10–15 videos across your core class types
  • Film 3–4 at a time in one session (batch production)
  • 30–45 minute classes work best on-demand
  • Add 2–3 new videos per month to keep the library fresh

Pricing

  • Include in premium membership tier (adds value without extra cost to deliver)
  • Sell as a standalone subscription ($19–$39/month) for remote members
  • Offer as a perk during membership freezes — member stays connected even when not attending
